Qualcomm Joins the Pack

Wolvic is unique, not only because we are the only multi-device open-source web browser for XR, but also in how we’re building and funding it.  While most browsers (and all engines) are funded primarily by a single organization, we have a different idea: that we’d be stronger and more resilient together.

Over the past year, we’ve worked to revive and improve the project that was originally Mozilla’s Firefox Reality and bring it onto an increasing number of devices and then into their stores.

Today we’re very proud to announce that we are working with Qualcomm Technologies, Inc.

The Qualcomm Logo

Qualcomm Technologies’ hardware and software power so many XR devices we’re bringing Wolvic to. Their OpenXR-conformant Snapdragon Spaces™ XR Developer Platform fills a gap, easing the burden of development and maintenance of XR software across AR and VR devices and enables an open ecosystem powered by industry-leading perception technology and a cross-device, cross-reality SDK.

This year at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, companies like Xiaomi showed off glasses that are Snapdragon Spaces Ready, and many leading global carriers announced new efforts around supporting Snapdragon Spaces, including China Mobile, Deutsche Telekom, KDDI, NTT QONOQ, T-Mobile, Telefonica and Vodafone.

We’ve been working, in the meantime, on using Snapdragon Spaces to first bring a functional Wolvic to the Lenovo ThinkReality A3 AR Glasses, followed by the Snapdragon Spaces Ready Lenovo VRX MR/VR headset. We’re incredibly proud that leveraging Snapdragon Spaces will allow us to bring Wolvic more easily into the main Google Play store, available for all of the devices that will use Snapdragon Spaces!

We will also be demonstrating Wolvic on Snapdragon Spaces at Augmented World Expo 2023 May 31st- June 2nd in Santa Clara, CA at the Igalia booth 946 and Qualcomm Technologies booth 205.

We’re looking forward to what we believe is an exciting new chapter in our development.
